Recognizing this to be the goal of each teacher, there is also an awareness that the goal is better achieved when each pupil has a thorough understanding of acceptable rules of behavior.
The following guidelines have been agreed upon by the faculty as being appropriate:
- Each class will determine its own rules for conduct.
- Each teacher assumes responsibility for making sure each child understands what is expected of him/her.
- Each teacher endeavors to establish a consistent and positive attitude in working with children.
Should persistent discipline problems occur, the following procedures are used:
- Teachers will confer with the pupil regarding his/her behavior.
- The pupil may be removed from the group activity but remain in the classroom.
- Parents will be contacted by telephone or a conference will be arranged to discuss the problem.
- The principal will be informed of persistent disciplinary problems that arise in the classroom. If problems continue, the principal will determine an appropriate course of action
