Inclusion consists of students who have various kinds of learning disabilities. All of the students have Individual Education Plans that describe in detail the goals and objectives for that student's education for any particular school year. Some of the inclusion students are full-time students in the regular classroom and receive support help from the resource teacher and the resource education aide. All other students spend time in the inclusion class when it is necessary for them to have individual or small group instruction from resource education personnel. At A.E. Phillips, our resource policy is to have students in the regular classroom for as much instruction as possible. We are working toward inclusion of students in all areas. Our resource education teacher and aide, as well as Lincoln parish personnel, are working with classroom teachers to facilitate that policy. Gifted Program Goals :
Criteria used to determine entrance into the program: Multiple Measures: I. 84% or above on Total Reading and Total Math A. Scores will be plugged in B. Gifted teacher will administer the Aptitude Test and plug in scores II. If teacher/parent feels that the test doesn't reflect student's ability: A. Have teacher complete referral form B. SBLC Chairperson records student name in SBLC notebook C. Obtain parent permission for screening D. Names are given to gifted teacher to complete screening; 1. Gifted teacher administers the KTEA II and plug in scores 2. Gifted teacher administers Aptitude Test and plug in scores E. Results of screening are noted on the referral form, in the SBLC notebook, and the appropriate letter is sent to the parents. F. If the student passes screening to be referred for an evaluation, the referral form and all test protocols are given to the Pupil Appraisal contact person for your school. G. If the student does not pass screening, the referral form and test protocols are kept in the SBLC notebook.
